Pig iron chips are formed during screening and handling of sorel metals. Mineral-loy supplies various sizes of pig iron chips such as +16mm, 3-16mm +5-16mm. In foundries, chips are used as a cover for FeSiMg in the tundish treatment to delay Mg treatment when molten metal is being poured. Other foundries use chips as a heat seal on the ladle.
